People wih type 2 diabetes may benefit from turmeric supplements based on a “gold standard” human trial. Daily supplements from curcumin, a natural pigment that gives the spice turmeric its yellow colour, have resulted in a significant drop in blood glucose levels, haemoglobin A1C, insulin resistance and free fatty acids compared to placebo. Curcumin’s other potential benefits include maintenance of prostate, brain, heart and joint health.
